DAVID BECKHAM is close to taking over as boss of the US football franchise in Miami.
Becks, 38, has the option to buy a significant stake in a Major League Soccer team after playing for LA Galaxy and is now poised to take it up.
His Galaxy contract contained the franchise option for a set fee of $25m.
Beckham has met several times with Bolivian billionaire Marcelo Claure, who is determined to have the former England captain as the head of a new team and new stadium.
MLS chief Don Garber said: "We think it would be terrific to have David involved in our league. We will continue discussions with him for sure."
