Tottenham sign Nacer Chadli
Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed an agreement has been reached with FC Twente to sign the Belgium winger Nacer Chadli for a reported £7m.
Chadli, 23, who will discuss terms and undergo a medical with the Premier League club, has spent three seasons in the Eredivisie with Twente and scored in both Champions League ties against Spurs during the 2010-11 season. If the deal is completed without a hitch the winger will join his team-mates in Hong Kong, where André Villas-Boas's side are playing in the Asia Trophy.
Tottenham issued a statement, saying that Chadli "joined FC Twente from Apeldoorn in 2010 and went on to make 106 appearances for the Dutch side, scoring 31 goals".
Chadli has 14 caps after representing Morocco in a non-competitive fixture before deciding to play for Belgium.
He made a name for himself at Apeldoorn before enjoying a successful spell in the Netherlands, proving a big hit with Twente and prompting Spurs to make their move. He is likely to become Villas-Boas' second major acquisition of the summer following the £17m signing of the Brazil international midfielder Paulinho from Corinthians earlier this month. PA
Liverpool's Pepe Reina to Napoli
Pepe Reina is to be reunited with his former manager Rafael Benítez at Napoli. The Liverpool goalkeeper is to join the Italian side on a season-long loan with the Merseyside club having signed the Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet.
The Spaniard, who has been at Anfield for eight years, was due to fly to Melbourne on the club's summer tour but diverted to Italy instead.
Brendan Rogers, the Liverpool manager, is looking forward to working with Luiz Suárez in Australia. Suárez, who has made no secret of his desire to leave Anfield this summer, was always due to meet up with Liverpool partway through their pre-season tour having been given extra time off following his appearances at the Confederations Cup with Uruguay.
Rodgers, whose side beat an Indonesia XI 2-0 in Jakarta on Saturday, said: "He's a player I've always supported. I understand the situation but the bottom line is he is employed by the club. The money goes into his bank at the end of every month, so he should be here." PA
