iPhones News CALLING IT QUITS ... Kieron Dyer
KIERON DYER has retired from football at 34.
The midfielder has finally decided to call it a day after a career plagued by injury problems.
The ex-Newcastle, Ipswich and England star has plans to move into coaching.
Dyer burst onto the scene as a tricky, quick midfielder with an eye for goal at Ipswich.
A string of superb displays at Portman Road in England's second tier earned him a move to Newcastle in 1999 where he spent eight seasons.
His best period came under legendary Toon manager Bobby Robson where the youngster played in the Champions League.
But recurring injuries saw him regularly miss matches and an infamous on-field bust-up with team-mate Lee Bowyer in 2005 also marred his time with the North-East outfit.
West Ham splashed out £6million for Dyer's services in 2007 but his rotten luck with injuries continued as he broke his leg in two places just 10 days after his debut in a pre-season game.
He racked up just 34 appearances for the Hammers in four years, before brief stints at QPR and Middlesbrough.
Dyer earned 33 caps for his country.
