OXFORD, Miss. - Marshall Henderson has been suspended indefinitely by Ole MIss.
The school announced the suspension Wednesday, for a violation of team rules.
'Since the season ended, we have talked a lot about Marshall taking a greater leadership role with our team. With that comes greater responsibility, and he must do a better job of living up to the high standard we expect from him and he desires from himself,' Ole Miss head coach Andy Kennedy said in a statement.
Henderson, a senior guard that was named SEC tournament MVP and led the conference in scoring, came to Ole Miss a year ago with a checkered past. That included an arrest on forgery charges stemming from when he was a high school senior.
Henderson, after failing drug tests in January 2012, served jail time.
But Ole Miss had always insisted he had been a good citizen, even if his on-court antics drew headlines and attention away from his play.
Henderson publicly apologized to fans after directing his middle fingers towards an opposing fan during the NCAA tournament.
