Troy Deeney talked the talk and then walked the walk as his second-half hat-trick taught Bournemouth a lesson at Vicarage Road.
But Watford boss Gianfranco Zola fears it might not be enough to keep him at the club. Deeney had said in the pre-match warm-up that his club were aiming for automatic promotion after they missed out in gut-wrenching circumstances to Crystal Palace in the Championship play-off final last season.
He then claimed a treble as Watford chalked-up a 6-1 win. But with Hull City boss Steve Bruce watching Deeney, Zola knows back-to-back wins could mean nothing if his star man goes to the top-flight.
Zola warned: 'The transfer window is still open - and that could be a problem.'
Burn harms party atmosphere
Ten years ago, Yeovil Town celebrated their arrival in the Football League.
On Saturday, Huish Park saw another giant leap as Birmingham City became the club's first visitors in the Championship. But a giant of a different sort - defender Dan Burn who stands at 6ft 5in - forced the own goal that separated the two sides on Saturday.
And Burn was part of Gary Johnson's squad that won promotion from League One last term.
Seagulls sink
It's too early to talk of a crisis but after three defeats in a week, two at home, Brighton and Hove Albion will be looking for a sharp upturn in fortunes.
The Seagulls lost the play-off semi-final to Crystal Palace, then there was a (literally) very messy incident in the dressing-room.
Boss Gus Poyet was then relieved of his duties in embarrassing fashion. Now his replacement, Oscar Garcia, has suffered three defeats during his first week in office, and Saturday's victors Derby had won just once in the calendar year.
Their boss Nigel Clough is tough to please, yet his verdict after the Brighton win? 'We were superb.' So perhaps credit needs to be given where due.
Beattie bestsed
Accrington boss James Beattie may feel his days as a forward are over, but he was taught a lesson by an even older striker at the Crown Ground. The 35-year-old's side, who only just missed relegation last term, were held 2-2 by Portsmouth forward David Connolly, who, at 36, hit the brace that held back David 'Bumble' Lloyd's favourite team.
Kick-off was delayed for 15 minutes at Molineux to let in a larger-than-expected crowd to see Kenny Jackett's first home match as Wolves boss. They rejoiced as Leigh Griffiths, who hit 28 goals at Hibs last term, scored twice against Gillingham in a 4-0 win.
